CIRCULATION CLERK - PICKENS COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY
FULL TIME POSITION
SALARY - $8.50 PER HOUR
APPLICATION DEADLINE: MAY 29, 2013 AT NOON
AVAILABLE - JUNE 1, 2013
PURPOSE
This position assists the public with circulating library materials.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Greet patrons and provide them with assistance as necessary (check in/out materials, using library
equipment, directional, and/or general information).
Registration of patrons.
Organize returned materials for proper placement in library.
Maintain Circulation transaction records.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain order and shelve books when needed.
Perform light cleaning in circulation area.
Assume additional responsibilities and perform special projects as needed or directed.
Assist Youth Coordinator and /or Reference Coordinator as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or equivalent
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Prior experience working in a library or
another customer service field
Previous experience working with children
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
Speak and write fluently. Basic computer and cash handling skills. Ability to multi-task
and work effectively with the public.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Nature of work requires an ability to lift boxes and crates of books of no more than 30 lbs. and push full book carts.
Must be able to
stand/sit for prolonged periods of time. Perform data entry and other computer functions.
