Friends of the Library - Book Sales and Book Store
Friends Book Store
With the opening of the new library in Gilmer County, the Friends of the Gilmer County Public Library have been able to open up an ongoing "Friends of the Library Bookstore." This bookstore, located within the library, offers gently used books for sale to the public. The proceeds from the sale of these books are then used to help the library fund special programs or to obtain new books for the general collection. Be sure to stop by the Friends store and pick up a book or two the next time you have a chance to visit this beautiful library.
Bookstore hours: Monday through Friday 10:30-5 and Saturday 11-3.
Friends Book Sales
Both the Cherokee County and the Pickens County Friends host book sales throughout the year for the benefit of the libraries. You can keep up to date with upcoming sales by checking the event calendar located on the home page of this site.

Pickens County Book Sale: the dates for the 2013 Book Sale are September 5 (Time TBA), 6 (9am-6pm) and 7 (9am-12pm). Keep an eye out here and on our home page for more details as we get closer to the event!
Donating Books
All libraries within the Sequoyah Regional Library System accept the donation of new and gently used books year round. If the library has need of a particular volume, donated books are added to the collection. If the library is unable to place a donation into the circulating collection, the books are sold at the Friends store in Gilmer, Annual & Semi-annual Friends book sales in Cherokee and Pickens, and through ongoing book sales within the libraries themselves. For guidelines on acceptable donations, please contact your local branch. |
