Directions to the Gilmer County Library

From Atlanta:

Take I-75 North to I-575.

Continue North on I-575, which becomes Hwy 515 at Pickens County Line.

Continue North on Hwy 515 through Jasper.

In Ellijay/East Ellijay, turn left at 3 rd Traffic Light (Hardee's, Arby's, Rite Aid)

Immediately turn left again (before bridge) onto Hwy 282 / 76 .

Continue on 282 / 76. Cross RR tracks, continue through 1 st light, & cross bridge.

Continue through 2 nd light (Dairy Queen, Conoco).

Continue ½ mile to left turn lane. (You will see school & library signs)

Turn left onto Calvin Jackson Drive . (Sign for Mountain View Elementary)

Go up hill – you will see library on your right.

From Blue Ridge, GA:

Take Hwy 515 South.

In Ellijay/East Ellijay, turn right at first traffic light.

Immediately turn left (before bridge) onto Hwy 282 / 76.

Continue on 282 / 76. Cross RR tracks, continue through 1 st light, & cross bridge.

Continue through 2 nd light (Dairy Queen, Conoco).

Continue ½ mile to left turn lane. (You will see school & library signs)

Turn left onto Calvin Jackson Drive . (Sign for Mountain View Elementary)

Go up hill – you will see library on your right.

From Dahlonega, GA:

Take Hwy 52 toward Ellijay.

At first traffic light (in East Ellijay), turn left .

Cross bridge, then take an immediate right onto Hwy 282 / 76 .

Continue on 282 / 76. Cross RR tracks, continue through 1 st light, & cross bridge.

Continue through 2 nd light (Dairy Queen, Conoco).

Continue ½ mile to left turn lane. (You will see school & library signs)

Turn left onto Calvin Jackson Drive . (Sign for Mountain View Elementary)

Go up hill – you will see library on your right.

From Dalton, GA:

Take Hwy 76 to Chatsworth.

At Chatsworth, go South on Hwy 411 (Don't take Hwy 52 from

Chatsworth to Ellijay unless you prefer a scenic, mountainous route)

Turn left onto Hwy 76 / 282 toward Ellijay. There is a traffic light at this intersection. (This route makes several turns at this point: left, then right, then straight, then left again. Just follow signs.)

Continue on Hwy 76 / 282 to Ellijay (about 26 miles).

About 1-2 miles from Ellijay, watch for several landmarks: Red Apple Barn (right), Sue's Log Cabin Restaurant (right), and Orchard Junction convenience store (on left). After you pass Orchard Junction, you will start going down a long hill. Toward the bottom of the hill, watch for school and library road signs.

Turn right on Calvin Jackson Drive. (At sign for Mountain View Elementary School).

Go up hill – you will see library on your right.

If you get lost, call the library at 706-635-4528. If you stop to ask for directions, some people may direct you to our old library, which was in downtown Ellijay. Not everyone knows where we are yet!

Note: Calvin Jackson Drive is a newer street that may not be mapped yet on Internet maps or GPS. A nearby cross street is Tyler Road.
