Branch Manager - Ball Ground Public Library
About the Role
This position serves as a manager of a branch library. Responsibilities include providing leadership for Branch staff and managing the overall service plan and operation of the agency including collection development and maintenance, services and programs, customer and community relations, outreach and developing partnerships and overseeing the general maintenance and security of the library building and grounds. Individuals in this position prioritize making time for intentional reflection in regards to their role and direct reports, identify innovative solutions to team hurdles, effectively frame change to staff with a forward-thinking and positive mindset, and actively pursue resolution when conflict arises. Individuals in this position can expect to spend 10% of their time assisting the public, sometimes from a library service desk, 10% of their time assisting with circulation/collection maintenance, and 80% of their time completing managerial and leadership tasks.

Salary & Benefits: $37,128 - $43,660 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. Paid Annual Leave, Sick Leave & Holidays. State Health Benefit Plan, Flexible Benefits and Teacher Retirement System.
Schedule: Full-Time, 40 hours per week. Schedule includes a combination of daytime, evening, and weekend hours. This library is open 6 days a week. Work schedule will vary, and flexibility is required.
Responsibilities:

Supervise and coordinate the activities of employees including determining work procedures, work
-
schedules and maintaining leave requests; issuing instructions and assigning duties; reviewing work;
-
recommending personnel actions; conducting progress reviews; and conducting departmental training and
-
orientation.

Oversee all daily operations of the library branch, including programs, financial operations, bank deposits,
-
submission of supply orders and maintenance of library facilities and grounds.

Establish effective strategies for selection, hiring, discipline and performance management.

Demonstrate ability to lead teams effectively, including delegating tasks, developing the skills of direct report
-
staff and involving employees in progress reviews.

Implement and evaluate standards and practices for the delivery of quality, in coordination with library
-
leadership, customer service treating users in a welcoming, professional manner and providing other staff
-
with an example of positive customer service.

Manage the library environment to enhance the user experience, in coordination with library leadership,
-
including organizing the library’s collections, physical areas and work areas to appeal to users, meet their
-
needs and create a positive and welcoming environment.

Maintain the library collection in coordination with collection services including the selection, evaluation,
-
and weeding of material.

Measure, communicate and report impact of branch services, including maintaining monthly reporting.

Communicate branch activities regularly to supervisor and participate in library system meetings.

Guide library staff as they develop and implement displays to market library materials, services, programs,

etc.

Guide and assist the public and staff in the use of technology and library tools.

Communicate with branch staff regularly and engage in community relationship building to ensure that we
-
offer materials, services and programs designed to meet patron needs.

Disseminate important information to staff in an effective and timely manner.

Interpret and adhere to library policies and procedures.

Apply effective techniques to address difficult situations with users and encourage users to follow library
-
policies; apply good judgment when deviating from official policies and procedures.

Communicate challenges and needs to the Deputy Director.

Understand and carry out the mission, vision, and values of Sequoyah Regional Library System.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

3 years working in a library setting, with progressively responsible library experience. Supervisory experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to stand and/or sit for prolonged periods of time; lift boxes and crates of no more than 30
lbs.; move and manipulate inventory; frequent stooping, kneeling and crouching.
