Cherokee, Pickens, & Gilmer County Farm Bureaus Donation

April 3, 2023

The Cherokee, Pickens, and Gilmer County Farm Bureaus have donated multiple copies of the children’s book “I Love Strawberries” to the Sequoyah Regional Library System. The donation was made possible by the Georgia Foundation for Agriculture and Georgia Electric Membership Corporation (EMC), who gave nearly 400 copies of the book to Georgia’s county farm bureaus to donate to local public libraries in an effort to promote agricultural literacy.

Written by Shannon Anderson and illustrated by Jaclyn Sinquett, “I Love Strawberries” educates young readers on how strawberries grow, why ladybugs are helpful, and how rewarding it is to grow your own food. The American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture selected the book as its 2023 Book of the Year for its accurate and positive portrayal of agriculture. The Georgia Foundation for Agriculture began donating books about agriculture to each public library in Georgia in 2016, with  EMC joining the foundation in this endeavor in 2018.

Community members can check out a copy of “I Love Strawberries” by visiting one of Sequoyah Regional Library System’s public libraries. To place a hold on the book, view our calendar of events, or learn more about the library, please visit our website: SequoyahRegionalLibrary.org.
