Digitizing Equipment The following branches offer free use of digitizing equipment: Gilmer County Library (made possible in part by a grant awarded by Faith Hope and Charity) Rose Creek Public Library (made possible in part by a grant awarded by Cobb EMC) Guidelines for Use: A library account in good standing is required to use digitizing equipment. Accepted formats include images of any size up to 12”x17” (including drawings, maps, or large books), standard photographic slides, negative films, DVD/VHS recordings, and CDs/DVDs (Rose Creek Public Library ONLY). Users should be 18 years of age or older to use the digitizing equipment and must have a valid SRLS library card. Completion of the Digitizing Equipment Request Form by a parent/guardian is required for users under 18 years old. Appointments can be scheduled for a maximum of 3 hours. If equipment is not reserved by another user, a maximum of 2 appointments can be scheduled per day. Users who schedule appointments are responsible for any misuse or damage to library equipment. If equipment is damaged beyond repair, users will be charged full replacement cost as assessed by SRLS. Food and drink are not permitted when using the equipment. User agrees that the library will be held harmless and is not liable for any damage or injury to user or user’s personal property as a result of using the library digitizing equipment. Items with excessive damage, including but not limited to mold or mildew, are ineligible for digitizing. Library staff will inspect items for damage. Library staff can provide assistance on using equipment but may be unavailable to offer extensive help during appointments. Please note, appointments are not scheduled until confirmed by library staff. At the first appointment, staff will provide a brief overview of the equipment. Ask Us! Sessions Sessions allow you to receive one-on-one help by reserving time with a staff member at any of our locations. By scheduling a session, we can ensure you will have up to 30 minutes of uninterrupted, one-on-one help on a topic of your choice. We’re available in person, by phone, email, and virtual meeting. This is a great way to book a librarian! Our staff members can help you: Learn and use technology, like the 3D Printer or Digital Equipment ​ Locate quality resources for research projects ​ Access eBooks, eAudiobooks, magazines, and more from our eLibrary ​ Explore our online catalog and browse databases Learn basic computer skills, email, and social media To request a session, please use the contact us form and select Ask Us! Sessions. ​ Share as much detail about your request as possible. A staff member will contact you within 3 business days, and a session will be scheduled within one week of contact (unless a later date is desired). Sessions are not available on weekends. What you can do with your library card? Check out books, movies, magazines and audiobooks, all for free in both print and digital formats. You can also check out passes to state parks and other attractions, Launchpads, Chromebooks, tablets and even musical kits. Your Library Card Getting a library card at Sequoyah Regional Library is easy! Your library card is your key to the resources and services for the Sequoyah Regional Library System. In addition to borrowing library materials, your card allows you to reserve a computer, download digital media, search hundreds of electronic databases, and more. Who can apply for a library card? Anyone who lives, pays taxes, or owns property in Cherokee, Pickens, or Gilmer County is eligible to receive a free library card for use throughout the Sequoyah Regional Library System. To receive a card, visit your local branch and bring a photo ID or two documents that show a current address. The most common form of ID is a driver’s license, but a utility bill, non-driver ID, or other form that clearly shows an in-county street address will be accepted. If you do not live within the tri-county area (Cherokee, Pickens and Gilmer Counties), but own property here, you are still eligible. Just provide your ID and a tax bill showing the address of your property. You can apply for a card at any of the public libraries that comprise the Sequoyah Regional Library System. 3D Printing Please review the 3D Printer Policy and Guidelines for Use before submitting a request. Reserve to use one of our 3D printers! Hands-on 3D printer use is available to SRLS cardholders ages 18 and older. Policy: 3D Printers are available to the public to make three-dimensional objects in plastic using a design that is uploaded from a digital computer file. The Library reserves the right to refuse any 3D print request. The Library’s 3D printers may be used only for lawful purposes. The public will not be permitted to use the Library’s 3D printers to create material that is: Prohibited by local, state or federal law. Unsafe, harmful, dangerous or poses an immediate threat to the well-being of others. (Such use may violate the terms of use of the manufacturer.) Obscene or otherwise inappropriate for the Library environment. In violation of another’s intellectual property rights. For example, the printers will not be used to reproduce material that is subject to copyright, patent or trademark protection. Users must complete a 3D Print Request Form before their print job is accepted. Print jobs must be under three hours, unless approved by library administration. Only Library staff or patrons with a completed user waiver will have hands-on access to the 3D printers. Cost per gram is posted prominently near the machines and is established by the County Library Board of Trustees which may change the fee at any time by action of the Board of Trustees. Guidelines for Use (Library Staff Led 3D Print Request): Complete a 3D Print Request Form before print job is started. Print jobs more than 3 hours may not be available for immediate print. Cost of printing will be 15 cents per gram minimum charge of $3.00 per each print job. You will be notified when your print job is complete. Items printed will be picked up within 7 days during regularly scheduled library hours, after which they will become property of the Library. Items must be picked up by the individual who requested the print job. Print time will be scheduled by library staff. PLEASE NOTE: A “complete” print job does not always mean “successful.” The library will still notify you of completion even if it does not come out perfectly. Reprints will only be available in the event of machine malfunction. Failed prints due to errors within the 3D model (print file submitted) will still be charged for materials used. All print jobs are pending until approved by library staff. EZ Student Access Cherokee County Schools Pickens County School Georgia Cyber Academy Cherokee County School District Sequoyah Regional Library System has entered into an agreement with the Cherokee County School District to extend borrowing privileges to all students in Cherokee County Schools. Students that opt-in to the program are added to the SRLS cardholder database. Computers & Printers Computers: All Sequoyah Regional Library locations have computers for public use. All public computers have Internet access and a office suite of programs installed. Wireless Access Free wi-fi access is available at all locations. It is available 24 hours a day and can be accessed from the parking lot or inside the library. Printing: You can print your documents at the library using one of our public computers, or from your own device. Black-and-white prints cost $0.15 per printed side. Color prints cost $0.75 per printed side. Print From Anywhere Online Printing (Printing from Home or Your Own Device) SmartAlec allows you to upload documents from your own device for printing on any SRLS printer. From a web browser: visit https://smartalecplus.smartalecprint.com/?ID=SequoyahGA From a mobile device: download the SmartALEC App from Google Play or the Apple Store Log in using your library card number and PIN (If you do not have a library card, you can log in as a Guest User.) and upload your documents. About SAM ( Smart access Manager ) SRLS uses a computer management system called “SAM” (Smart Access Manager™) that allows all computer users access time at each location. Using your Library card number and PIN (Personal Identification Number), SAM keeps track of the amount of time each user is on the computer, and limits users to three (3) total hours of use per day systemwide.
