Service Associate Join Our Team! Service Associate (Full-Time) - Woodstock About the Role This position is central to customer service, providing timely assistance to the public, shelving of materials, and responding to a variety of requests. This frontline position anticipates and meets the needs of users in the most visible way. This position also aids in maintaining the materials collection. Fully supported by all of the other sectors and departments, they work to provide quality customer service to the library community. Individuals in this position can expect to spend 50% of their time assisting the public from a library service point and 50% of their time assisting with circulation/collection maintenance. Closing Date: 4/16/2025 Start Date & Location: June 2, 2025 / Woodstock Public Library, 7735 Main St, Woodstock, GA 30188 Salary & Benefits: $31,844.88 Annually, Paid Annual Leave, Sick Leave & Holidays. State Health Benefit Plan, Flexible Benefits and Teacher Retirement System. Schedule: Full-Time, 40 hours per week. The schedule includes a combination of daytime, evening, and weekend hours. This library is open 6 days a week. Work schedule will vary, and flexibility is required. Responsibilities: Deliver quality customer service, greeting the public in a welcoming, professional manner. Assist at the service desk and provide staff support as needed. Assist the public in the use of technology and library tools. Demonstrate general knowledge of the library automation system in use and specific knowledge of the operations that apply to circulation procedures. Understand and perform circulation operations for all library materials (including but not limited to check-in, check-out, renew, place holds, process holds, financial transactions, recordkeeping, etc.) Access the OPAC (online catalog) and library automation system, using a variety of tactics to locate items in the collection (via subject heading, author, title, keyword searches, etc.) Understand and perform collection maintenance procedures (including but not limited to shelving, shifting, shelf reading, etc.). Assist the public in locating, selecting, and using resources. Proactively interact with the public to ascertain what they need and ensure they find it. Ensure proper order of books, and neat orderly appearance of public areas. Maintain condition of books and other items through repair and light maintenance. Enter data in the library automation system or other software, maintaining confidential records and circulation databases. Handle financial transactions, count money and make change accurately. Provide supervision and guidance for part-time staff as needed and serve in an ‘in-charge’ role as needed. Engage in continuing education. Understand and adhere to the mission, values, and vision of the library organization and maintain current knowledge, trends and development through continuing education. Qualifications: Requires High School Diploma or equivalent. 1 year job related experience; preferably working with the public in a customer service or retail field. Bilingual ability is a plus in serving a diverse community. Skills & Abilities: Basic computer skills, including the ability to type, operate a computer and navigate the internet. Ability to perform basic math; understand and follow written and oral instructions. Ability to work with others in a variety of circumstances; to deal tactfully with staff and the public; to communicate effectively with supervisor, staff and the public. Ability to understand and perform library procedure. Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand and/or sit for prolonged periods of time; lift boxes and crates of no more than 30 lbs.; move and manipulate inventory; frequent stooping, kneeling and crouching. Sequoyah Regional Library System Receives 2025 Agricultural Book of the Year Donation SRLS News Sequoyah Regional Library System Receives 2025 Agricultural Book of the Year Donation March 21, 2025 The Georgia Foundation for Agriculture, Georgia Farm Bureau and Georgia Electric Membership Corporation (EMC) are jointly promoting agricultural literacy by donating copies of the children’s book “The Soil in Jackie’s Garden” to Sequoyah Regional Library System. The Georgia Foundation for Agriculture (GFA) and Georgia EMC have given each county Farm Bureau in Georgia enough books for every public library in the county. The Cherokee County Farm Bureau, Pickens County Farm Bureau, and Gilmer County Farm Bureau each delivered a copy of the book to Sequoyah Regional Library System. Denise Forward, Program Coordinator for Cherokee County Farm Bureau, presented the book to Kersting Shaw, R.T. Jones Memorial Library Assistant Branch Manager. Rachel Hoffbauer, Pickens County Farm Bureau Office Manager, and Kadie Shaw, Public Relations of Amicalola EMC, presented the book to Katie Dobson, Pickens County Library Branch Manager. Candra Frady, Gilmer County Farm Bureau Office Manager, presented the book to Alex Thomerson, Gilmer County Library Branch Manager. “The Soil in Jackie’s Garden,” written by Peggy Thomas and illustrated by Neely Daggett, follows Jackie and her garden friends as they discover the wonders of gardening, soil secrets and the magic of composting. They embrace the joys of planting a garden, nurturing and harvesting their own food, and recycling scraps to compost, ensuring that the “magical cycle of growth and sustainability continues anew.” The American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture selected the book as its 2025 Book of the Year for its accurate and positive portrayal of agriculture. The GFA began donating accurate books about agriculture to each public library in Georgia in 2016. Georgia EMC joined the foundation as a sponsor of this endeavor in 2018.

Information Technology Director About the Role The IT Director is responsible for maintaining the library system’s work flow and keeps its lines of communication open; and is responsible for the upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of multi-user computers, such as servers. Individuals in this position prioritize making time for intentional reflection in regards to their role and direct reports, identify innovative solutions to team hurdles, effectively frame change to staff with a forward-thinking and positive mindset, and actively pursue resolution when conflict arises. The Information Technology Director can expect to spend 5% of their time in the community or traveling, 10% of their time working with vendors, 25% of their time working at branch locations, and 60% of their time completing managerial and leadership tasks. State Health Benefit Plan, Flexible Benefits and Teacher Retirement System Schedule: Full-Time, 40 hours per week. Typical schedule is daytime hours, with possible evening and weekend hours. Flexibility is required. Responsibilities: Develop technology plans, assessments, strategies, and processes for purchasing technology for the system. Continually evaluate staff, community and user technology needs and respond to changes. Prepare the budget for purchase recommendations based on the technology planAdhere to the library’s established rules and procedures for purchasing, including procurement rules and bidding processes. Establish and adhere to hardware and software replacement plans with a 3–5 year refresh cycle. Acts as administrator for LAN/WAN. Prepare a Request for Proposal (RFP) to support sound purchase decisions. Identify and negotiate with technology vendors to obtain products and equipment that best meet the needs of the users. Leverage consortia and statewide procurement options. Maintain accurate records and inventory of IT equipment within the department and system. Understand and lead the processes for and implications of applying for government funding programs (LibTech, E-RATE, LSTA, Universal Service discounts). Assess technology trends that will affect the library and its users and advise all appropriate administration. Provide training and support to staff and public on how to use the library systems technology (hardware, software, and networks). Demonstrate advanced understanding of the library’s automation system (OPAC, circulation, catalog, etc.) and develop working relationships with internal library staff and ILS vendor support. Understand enterprise systems in use in parent organization and integrate library systems and services where appropriate and efficient. Manage the complexities of operating system upgrades on servers and workstations as appropriate. Install, configure and maintain all telecommunications, software, and hardware Plan, coordinate, and implement best practices to ensure maximum protection of library systems Develop, implement and communicate policies and practices to determine the needs for public access computers, wireless access and programs. Manage software applications for staff and other nonpublic computers and provide administration for optimum performance. Provide technical support to end users over email, phone, and in person, helping end users diagnose and resolve issues. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field. Minimum of 5 years of IT experience in the technology field with preferred experience in a supervisory or management role in an IT setting with related experience of network management and monitoring services such as TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS. Experience with desktop management, hands-on hardware and software troubleshooting experience. Experience administering server-client, web-based applications, and basic relational databases in a Windows server or higher environment. Work Environment & Physical Requirements: The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require an ability to lift and transport moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals up to 50 pounds. Duties require the ability to occasionally inspect cables in floors and ceilings. Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time. Work performed in a climate controlled environment. Create booklists, read-alikes, and other readers advisory tools to appeal to children. Maintain and report statistics related to programs as required. Provide a monthly schedule of programs for inclusion in system wide promotional materials in a timely manner. Promote current library services and programs. Work with supervisor to inform branch staff of changes in programs. Provide supervision for part-time staff as needed.
